Texting Language

I think it's interesting that teachers and professors are noticing that their students are using texting language in their formal papers and assignments. The article, "Instant Messaging: Friend or Foe?" explains how teachers have found students using this informal language in the classroom. It contradicts the concept that technology is taking over our society. People say that technology has taken over in the classroom and workspace but if that was true then those people wouldn't be using the texting language in their papers because they would have access to technology to fix their grammar, punctuation, and spelling. It's also interesting to think how much the classroom environment has changed that students even feel comfortable using that kind of language with elder figures such as professors. It seems that the classroom has become more personal for today's society unlike the formality of the classroom about 100 years or so ago. It will be interesting to see how much it continues to progress.
